Social Welfare Centre (SWC) is a charitable society (Reg. No 29/71) has registered in 1971. This society has been taking various Central and State Government schemes and projects for women empowerment and upliftment of marginalized people of the society. It is one of the official organizations for facilitating social development and welfare activities of the Archdiocese of Thrissur. The contribution of the S.W.C has helped thousands of poor and marginalized to improve their living conditions

Services Offered

Social Welfare Centre (SWC) is a charitable society (Reg. No 29/71) has registered in 1971. This society has been taking various Central and State Government schemes and projects for women empowerment and upliftment of marginalized people of the society. Through this society Pope Paul Mercy Home, Anthony-Mentalyn has been receiving annually grand for MR and differently-able person's rehabilitation program. The formation and Animation of Self Help Groups and Farmers Forum are taking place under SWC. These animations are extended to training of skills and small entrepreneurship for IGP (Income Generation Program).

Main Activities

1. Rehabilitation of differently- abled children
2. Formation and monitoring of Self Help Groups
3. Facilitate loans to the SHG/JLG members from commercial banks & Kerala State Backward Class Development Corporation to start Income Generation Programmes so as to enable them self reliant.
4. Renovation of public wells and ponds : 15
5. Conducting seminars, workshops and awareness classes for the women folk to make them empowered and socially committed
6. Conducting training classes on various subjects to enable the women to start income generating programmes

Snehanidhi - Credit Union

There is a saying that “mother breeds generation” a self sustained family depends on an empowered woman. The Social Welfare Centre has been a courier towards this and hence goes the victory march irrespective of caste, creed and religion. Micro credits are widely accepted by the people with dynamic response by depositing their filths periodically as a launch of amassing financial stability against the immediate and unexpected financial crisis. By conducting various awareness classes and seminars the members are enabled to tackle any situation. A number of members have been elected to the local -bodies as people’s representatives.

Objective

1. Provide dwelling houses for the Marginalised and low income groups, Irrespective of caste, community or creed
2. The primary need of a family is a shelter for their own. As such the Social Welfare Centre gives the top Priority for the housing projects.
3. Decades back Social Welfare Centre tied its band in this field, giving topmost importance to the housing needs of the deserving folk.

Housing

Financed and constructed more than 8000 houses for the poor and homeless.

Women Empowerment

Support and supervise 305 Self Help Groups with 4130 member families and 65 Snehanidhi-Credit unions.

Family Development

More than 6000 beneficiary families have availed financial aid and social support

Education Scholarship

A student education support scheme enabling student from poor families

Migrant Mission

A migrant mission centre at Chavakad giving awareness and sunday religious services

Relief Services

Assistance for marriages, hospitalisation, treatment and house repair to the poor and marginal
